A visit

As told in a previous post, mom and dad come out to visit, and we had a lot of fun. They came out to go to my cousin's wedding, so I drove up and went too. It was so nice to see all the family and catch up. Then, the next day, mom and dad drove down to see where we live and visit a bit more. We went to Patriot's point and looked at the ships and boats, and then just relaxed.

Hockey game

On Saturday, T and I went to the last game of the season of the minor league hockey team in town. When we got there, I realized both teams were from South Carolina....of all places to find not just one but 2 ice hockey teams...only to find out that there is a third team awaiting their stadium to be built and then there will be 3 of them...in the south. Not what one expects to find. Anyway, it was a really good game, the last regular season game. It was fun!! Both teams were really good, and we were able to tie it up in the last period in the last 42 seconds by taking the goalie out. Crazy!! Anyway, the local team was the first to get a goal in overtime, so we won!!
Our original seats were right in the middle of a crowd. The two guys in front of us were yelling not very nice things at the other team's goalie, and the two ladies behind us take minor league hockey way too seriously. So, T and I moved to a more deserted area of the seating and enjoyed the game so much more. Too bad the season is over or I would love to go to another game. Oh well. I hear minor league soccer starts here soon and I am looking forward to going to one of those games.

A Happy Birthday

T and i both had to work long days on my birthday, so we decided to celebrate yesterday, since he only had to work a half day. I slept in, and did some house stuff, and then met T down at the trails and he ran for an hour while I rode my bike behind him. It is fun back there, mud, bridges, tree roots sticking out everywhere. I'm getting more confident out there the more we go. Then we went and got groceries and T got me my birthday present. I really like it. We came home and did some stuff and then took an hour and a half nap, which wasn't technically in the plan for the day, but was so nice. Then T took me to a place I had been wanting to go to for dinner. It was between a local greek place and a southern place that I had heard was excellent. We went to Sweetwater cafe because they had just started an Irish menu. I had a very tasty Irish stew, and T had one of the best burgers I have had...seasoned perfectly. We were going to go play some games at the arcade, but it got a little late, so we came home and watched an episode of M.A.S.H. Then, as the perfect topper of the day, I got to talk to my good friend from Monterey who I had been missing for a while. Good birthday!!

Unexpected visitor

I was in a dead sleep last night, the really, really deep one that you aren't supposed to wake people out of if you can help it (ironically, I was having a really intense not the best dream too.) T was sound asleep as well. My dream had me and my sister escaping from people trying to keep us hostage. Just as she took out her guy, I jumped up and used the window ledge to swing both my feet into my assailant, causing her to crash into a glass set of shelves. Just as I landed back on the ground, I was awaken from this dream by a pounding on our front door. T just jumped up and was on his feet so fast. it literally had startled him completely awake. Ends up someone had called and said they had heard yelling from Our apartment, the exact number, and the police came out to investigate. I definitely sounded and looked like I had been asleep. I told T I should have told them about what I had heard from our bathroom the night of our birthday. Some guy was stomping around, yelling for someone named Jennifer and slamming doors. Sounded right outside our apartment, but I think it may have been underneath or across the hall and connected to the sound by one of the pipes. don't know, but I told T and he said he hoped someone wasn't really in trouble and they came to the wrong apartment. It definitely took awhile to go back to sleep from that wake up call. (Are police officers taught to knock that hard, or is it a natural knowledge to pound like that?)

Success!!

Mom and Dad came down to visit after my cousin got married and we had a lot of fun. More on that later. T and I took them down to the pond and Eureka! we saw the alligator, who is definitely back, and Dad got some great pics of it. I think I will name him soon too. He's just a little guy or girl I guess, but I don't know that you can grow too big in our pond either.
